Do you enjoy optimizing and improving existing SCADA and PLC systems, and would you like to play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of baggage handling systems at airports worldwide? Scarabee is a leading player in the airport industry. We develop and implement innovative solutions from arrival to boarding, with a strong focus on passenger experience and safety. Our systems combine mechanical, electrical and software components and operate in mission-critical environments. As a SCADA Engineer BCS, you act as the link between engineering, service and project teams, ensuring reliable, safe and efficient processes.

Your responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing new software and modifying existing SCADA and PLC systems.
  • Building and maintaining simulation software (digital twins) for testing and acceptance environments.
  • Performing functional and integration testing on developed software.
  • Analyzing and resolving incidents and issues in existing control systems and software.
  • Creating and maintaining system documentation, work instructions and procedures.
  • Coordinating work assignments and project activities with team members and stakeholders.
  • Providing technical support and advice to customers and internal teams.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation or a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SCADA systems (e.g. Siemens WinCC) and PLC systems (e.g. Siemens S7 / TIA Portal).
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • A willingness to learn and the ability to quickly understand complex processes.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to participate in on-call duties.

Experience and knowledge

  • Solid experience with SCADA and PLC systems in operational environments.
  • Understanding of software development, testing and troubleshooting within complex technical systems.
  • Experience with technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Awareness of safety, security and compliance requirements in critical infrastructures.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the airport industry or similar high-availability environments.
  • Experience with digital simulations and test environments (digital twins).
  • International work experience or experience working with international clients.
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (C++ or C#) is considered a plus.
