Are you a technically driven leader ready to shape the future of passenger flow at airports worldwide? We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary engineering team to the next level.

About the role

As our Engineering Manager, you will lead the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams, totaling approximately 14 FTE. This includes engineers at all levels (junior to senior), a lead engineer, and a technical documentation specialist. You are responsible for delivering high technical quality, driving efficient engineering processes, and fostering a high-performing, innovative team.

You will be part of the Technology Department and report directly to the Director of Technology. Working closely with colleagues from software development, product management, and strategy, you will help guide our complete product development lifecycle — from concept to realization.

Key responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Stimulate collaboration between mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Attract and retain top talent; guide professional growth and career paths
  • Member of the Technology Management Team

Strategic & Technical Vision

  • Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with business goals
  • Drive innovation and R&D through a long-term technology roadmap
  • Translate trends and customer needs into actionable development projects

Project & Resource Planning

  • Ensure optimal allocation of engineering resources
  • Guarantee timely delivery and technical quality of engineering deliverables
  • Collaborate with product owners, solution engineers, and stakeholders

Technical Oversight

  • Ultimate responsibility for all technical designs, documentation, and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations (e.g., CE, UL, ISO)
  • Drive standardization, modularity, and scalability in product design

Process & Quality Improvement

  • Develop and maintain engineering processes and best practices
  • Improve quality assurance within both engineering disciplines
  • Enhance cross-departmental collaboration and implement design and documentation tools

What you bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 7–10 years of experience in a technical role, including 3+ years in a leadership position
  • Experience in infrastructure, industrial systems, or transportation sectors preferred; airport experience is a strong plus

Technical & Leadership Skills

  • Familiarity with engineering tools like CAD, EPLAN, and PDM systems
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong analytical, structured, and pragmatic approach
  • Decision-making skills and the ability to manage change and innovation
  • Strategic mindset aligned with long-term technology and product goals

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
  • Ability to clearly present complex technical concepts
