The future passenger journey in Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport is taking more and more shape. The first security checkpoint lane (Siko) has already been completed.
Short walking distances, state-of-the-art technology, and an outstanding travel experience – these are the hallmarks of the new terminal in Frankfurt. Hessen’s Minister of Finance, Prof. Dr. Ralph Alexander Lorz, was able to see this for himself today.
During a joint tour of Terminal 3 with Pierre Dominique Prümm, Fraport Executive Board Member for Aviation and Infrastructure, and the two Managing Directors of Fraport Ausbau Süd GmbH, Stephanie Pudwitz and Harald Rohr, the Finance Minister visited, among other areas, the check-in hall and the central marketplace. Special attention was given to the centralized security checkpoint area, where the first lane was recently completed in full.
A total of 21 Siko lanes will be available in Terminal 3. Each lane will be equipped with a modern CT scanner. Passengers simply place their hand luggage in a tray; unpacking electronic devices or liquids will no longer be necessary in the future. In the course of 2025, walk-through scanners will also be installed to further increase efficiency at the checkpoints.
The construction of Terminal 3 is currently in its final phase. Fraport will begin test operations in the fall of 2025. After Easter 2026, the terminal will open its doors to millions of travelers.
