With the ambition of extending Taoyuan Airport to the capital of Taipei, Taoyuan International Airport Company (TIAC) has introduced Self Service Baggage Drop off units at Taoyuan MRT A1 train station located at the heart of Taipei, enabling passengers to travel to the airport faster and more conveniently. The Project realizes the ambition of allowing passengers to see the city or travel to the airport without any burden of baggage, resulting in an increase of quality of service.

Since the beginning of 2019, 26 Self Service Baggage Drop off units, equipped with passport readers, are fully operational in Terminal 2 of Taoyuan International Airport. The units are used by the passengers of the biggest Taiwanese airlines China Airlines and EVA air. The passenger now has more choice and control and can jump the queues at check-in.

Being the main contractor, Scarabee was responsible for the complete project including project and site management, design, IT-infrastructure and DCS integrations. Furthermore, Scarabee trained the airport’s new local service & maintenance team. After intensive training sessions, the local team is servicing the equipped with passport readers units to keep them in perfect shape.
